Baldur’s Gate 3 – Playthrough 13 – Wicked – Vengeance

This is part 4 in a series of 5 posts. You want to start with the first one. It’s important to note that Sandalwood the Witch is fictional. I’m Wiccan. The faux narrative tone I assume is part of the character, and does not represent me.

Traitors

I mentioned in an earlier post that the coven had two traitors. Sandalwood had to choose how to punish them.

Throw them into a pit? Unpleasant, to be sure, but predictable.

Shadowheart

Sandalwood thought on this a long while. While Shadowheart had been disloyal, she was a female, and had served the coven well enough up to the moment of her betrayal. What to do?

It’s so cute when your victims try to threaten you.

At last, Sandalwood had a moment of epiphany: Shadowheart herself inspired it.

Shadowheart had moments when she was in agonizing pain. All Sandalwood had to do to ensure that Shadowheart would have to endure pain for the rest of her life was… nothing.

The pain continues.

Shadowheart abandoned the coven while she was in the Lands of Shadow. She’d live forever in excruciating agony, friendless, alone, with no hope of escape.

It was a punishment that everyone could enjoy.

Gale

What to do about the traitor Gale?

Death, obviously. But how to make it interesting?

Sandalwood thought she had a clever solution: Give him over to bloody sacrifice by a tribe of savages.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work. A projection of the dead Gale appeared with detailed instructions on how to resurrect him. It was all quite tedious.

If Sandalwood hadn’t brought him back to life, the orb within his chest would have detonated, destroying all life in that part of the world.

It wouldn’t have mattered so much if “all life” hadn’t included Sandalwood herself.

She had no choice but to follow the directions.

Gale was back. His traitorous eyes were almost unbearable as they gazed placidly at her.

Sandalwood had to tolerate Traitor Gale’s presence while she pondered her dilemma.

Minthara was always there with words of encouragement. Perhaps poison was the answer? No… again, too conventional.

Even Auntie Ethel was at a loss for answers.

The solution came from a totally unexpected source.

Orin the Red was another person whom Sandalwood respected and admired, though the feeling wasn’t mutual.

Orin kidnapped Gale, tormented him, and threatened to execute him. As with Shadowheart, the solution was obvious.

All Sandalwood had to do was nothing. As a result, Orin dispatched Gale in a manner so gory that I couldn’t bear to take the screenshot.

When the sight is too much for Astarion, you know it has to be bloody.

Sandalwood was satisfied. Justice had been served.

The saga of BG3 playthrough 13

My original post on playthrough 13 became long, so I split it into sections. Here are links to all of them.
