Baldur’s Gate 3 – Playthrough 11 – Bits and Pieces

No, this isn’t my last post on my 11th playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3. There will be at least two more posts after this one.

Honestly, I hadn’t thought this particular playthrough was that memorable. But perhaps this is a natural consequence of my resolve to split up this “playthrough diary” into multiple parts. When I add up the word count of what I’ve written about this playthrough so far, it comes to less than most of my BG3 write-ups.

Here we’ll look at smaller topics that didn’t fit into any other of my planned posts for this series.

Thrones

For example, as I wrote my post on playthrough 10, I included all the times I saved a screenshot when Minthara said this memorable line:

Minthara may not get tired, but what about Karlach? I decided to see for myself:

You see Scratch in most of these photos because I can get a better camera angle on Karlach when I select his point-of-view and position him.

Minthara is a better throne-sitter than Karlach.

Not every location had a throne, and I had to make do with what there was:

The Protectors

The Three Protectors in playthrough 11.

If you’ve been following this series, you know that I add three Hirelings to my campsite to cast protective spells on the party. As I mentioned in my previous post, when I named them after people I knew, it led down a rabbit hole of obligation and fascination.

As in playthrough 10, this time I picked names that were not likely to get me in trouble. They were named after three cats have intersected my life recently: my own pets and a guest. I changed their appearance using the Magic Mirror to make them resemble their namesakes.

Here they are near the start of the playthrough:

I fiddled with dyes and costuming, as I played “Barbie dress-up”. By the end of the playthrough, they looked like this:

I varied Leia’s appearance during the playthrough as I dismissed and re-summoned her from the Fugue Plane in order to gain multiple Shadow Blades:

Minthara

I got a bit hung up on Minthara during this playthrough. Possibly this was because I made her a Witch this time around; I’ll have more about this in my next post.

Minthara the Green Witch

She’s talking about Orin. You better hope she’s not talking about you.

Minthara gleefully accepts powers that others might reject.

For a while Minthara was wearing a full helmet. I turned off its visibility so I could see her face. But she looked so good in that pointy hat, so I reverted back.

There’s nothing quite like looking at a nude statue of yourself.

Witches need to be highly intelligent. Minthara the Green Witch is no exception.

They have to be well-read as well. Of course, magical volumes are always better in the original Drowish.

Minthara gives Gale some good advice.

Vengeance!

A witch makes for a fine Necromancer.

OK, eleven photos (not counting those in the other posts in this series) is probably enough Minthara for now. Any more and I’ll start writing Minthara fanfic.
