Last night (to be accurate, yesterday afternoon), A, M, and I played the second half of Chapter 2 of Soul Raiders. In that earlier post, I predicted that we were going to lose the game. Unfortunately, that prediction proved accurate.
A picture I took of the central game board shortly before the game ended. I described the board in detail in a previous post. Briefly, the hearts on the rim track the party’s overall health pool; the exclamation points in the middle track the threat level. I’ve blurred the event cards to avoid spoilers.Out of the 40 available locations in Chapter 2, we visited 32. You can see that Shuba was unimpressed with our level of inquisitiveness.
We came close to final victory. However, my character got badly sidetracked in the last third of the game. We faced a final Big Boss encounter at the end of the game with only two out of the three of us. We just couldn’t muster the resources in time.
Meanwhile, the cats were amused. Shuba observes us from a vantage point in a nearby closet.Jiku preferred to keep his distance. Since the activities did not include cat treats, it was hard for him to stay awake.M tried to teach Shuba the meaning of the word “finger”.In return, Shuba advised M to visit location 23.
Our present intention is to return to Soul Raiders sometime after the turning of the year. With what we’ve learned, we should be able to to complete Chapter 2 next time.
Who knows? Perhaps J will join us to bask in victory!
