Four years ago today, two teeny kittens chose to share their lives with me.
This is Jiku, from the Klingon jI’IHqu’, which means “I am very beautiful.”He’s grown a bit since then.Thiis is Shuba, from the Klingon Sub’a’, meaning “a great hero.”It’s no longer as easy to get the cats to stay in my arms for a selfie.
There’s been a shift in their behavior over the past year. They’ve become less social with each other. I understand that this is normal for cats as they grow older.
Images like this have become rarer. If I have so many of them, it’s because I tend to take pictures of them together more often than when they’re just lounging by themselves. They appreciate my games collection, though for different reasons than I do.They sometimes watch me play Baldur’s Gate 3.They are still gay. Anyone who has a problem with that had better be prepared to deal with deep claw marks.Boxes are an important part of life.
The principle issue that has emerged in the past year is their increasing reluctance to have their claws clipped. Jiku has become unmanageable at clipping time, even with vet-prescribed medication. I’m still working on this. The vet has advised me to increase the medication dose. We’ll see what happens.
As far as Jiku is concerned, the whole claw-clipping deal interferes with precious window-sitting time.Shuba is more blasé about the whole deal.
Shuba and Jiku wish you a Happy Adaption Day!
“Shuba, the Human is pointing his phone at us again.” “It’s OK, Jiku. Just ignore him and he’ll go away.”
