The Forest of Fear ended this past weekend. After reading at the New York Renaissance Faire for two months, and reading at the Forest of Fear for one month, my cycle of doing paid Tarot/Rune/Palm readings is over.
I acknowledge this makes me a lazy bum. I’m sure you work hard every weekend (whoever “you” are), and that I’m lucky to have the free time that I do. Still, I am a hedonist, and I am going to enjoy the free time that’s now available to me.
I got into reading Tarot cards at the NYRF in order to learn more about divination, and to learn more about people. I’ve certainly succeeded in both goals. However, there’s a price to paid: three months out of the year are taken up with readings.
Three months? Hmm… it’s longer than that. I have to start prepping my booth at the NYRF site 2-3 weeks before the Faire begins. I still have a car full of props to unload from my car, a costume to dry clean, and paperwork to fill out for next year’s booth. It’s closer to four months, a third of a year.
So I thank the gods that I now have the time to rest, relax, and recoup my energies in order to repeat the whole process next year.
And if you want a free reading out of me (or even to pay me for one)… forget it!
